Most of us remember the legend of Johnny Appleseed from grade school. Many people are surprised to know he was a real person and yes he really did wear a kettle upon his head. It’s true that he spent his much of his life on the edges of the frontier planting apple trees. What you may not know is that this man was not just an eccentric frontiersman. He was also an entrepreneur. As pioneers worked their way west, they moved into the areas where Johnny tended his trees, and he would sell the fledgling orchards to the new settlers. He would also return to the orchards to ensure they were receiving proper care. He is credited with bringing the apple as a staple to the American pioneer, and in his wanderings he became the subject of legend, beloved by the communities and pioneers he visited.
Training, like the orchard, should deliver its fruits over and over again. Even courses that are driven by licensing or regulatory requirements should provide professional benefit (not just reduced liability) to the student.
